Today is 26th January - Republic Day - a day which comes once a year. What's the essence of it? Well, for the working class its a day of chutti! to relax n doze off.For children - a day where one doesn't need to get up early and go to school with a heavy baggage; for College students - a day to meet up and hang out. I'm sure merely 10% (that also i feel is on the higher side) would actually be keen on going to watch the parade or feeling the Indianess in them.It is made to be just another day to wish "Happy Republic Day". That's it!!
Is this is what we mean by Independence? On this day , the sole gainers are the telecom companies with the overflow of BIG & patriotic msgs. But as soon as the Republic day will see the eve of the day, I'm sure all the feelings will die out and tomorrow would be just another day.
My heart really cries to see this plight.I don't want to sound like a teacher because I myself have not been much of an exception till recently. But now , I really feel we the youth need to to do something..but what even i'm not yet clear but at least messaging / emailing / creating protest groups on orkut / fb is just not worth. Thats the most easiest way to say you are doing somthing.
Look a level higher, time and energy need to be devoted to take up social issues prevailing in our own country.I've seen the attitude - till the time they don't suffer , they are unabe to comprehend the magnanimity of the issue. Wake up before its too late lest the only thing left may be to regret...

Twitter Twitter - Rishikesh Calling!!
I feel like a happy child – have initiated some key tasks that I had set for myself (sorry some I can’t share)
I am a new child to Twitter – I haven’t really “hooked up” , just added people I admire - Sushmita Sen , Aamir Khan , Shashi Tharoor , Preity Zinta , Karan Johar to name a few. Some tweets are worth reading while the others shouldn’t even get the bat of an eyelid. I find it silly to see people following Twitter everywhere and anywhere.
I’m sure if they would be dying and granted a wish, it would be to tweet and write “On my way to heaven.”:D. Such technological innovations are appreciative and welcomed but they must not over rule life. For some people the day’s worth is synonymous to the number of tweets. Hilarious!
Again a weekend has passed by where I had planned to do something and ended up doing altogether different. Not that I didn’t enjoy it but somehow I’m beginning to believe that weekends should be left unplanned and random. Let things unfold on a Friday evening and you just move with the flow.
Once again felt the shower of grace :) .. it’s such a beautiful feeling , too beautiful to be captured in words no matter how verbose one can be. I have decided to go to Rishikesh, COME WHAT MAY. Earlier, I was skeptical of getting 4 days leave but now I have the faith, thy will be done :)
So Rishikesh , here I come in March to rest in your lap and take a shelter in the abode of bliss:)
P.S: I hope you know Rishikesh is the name of a place and not a person!! (Ya , I know this was a PJ)
Keep Smiling :)

Deserve v/s Substitution
Good news!! One of my projects have been postponed , that means no extended hours of work this week , no running around for last minute work and no working on weekend!! Hurray!! Actually, my colleague was supposed to execute this project but since she is on leave for the next 3 days, I was assigned the Project. Well, for me this Project had both advantages and disadvantages.
Looking at the positives, it was like a God sent opportunity, a platform for striving excellence and a great learning experience. However, the project demanded huge amount of commitment in terms of time and effort. The issue with me wasn’t motivation but my health – long hours of sitting and running around MAY have caused my back and neck pain playing up again.
But, I took the risk, as I took it as Grace’s Play:). Had severe pain in the morning but somehow managed to work the whole day and in the evening, the client informed that the project has been postponed for 2 weeks! All Iz Well:)
I was on cloud nine!! This meant more time to give quality deliverables. However, my boss then said that since my colleague would be available at that time so she may execute it. How did I feel? Well, honestly, I didn’t feel bad. I understand it’s her project and she has full right to claim it. At the same time, it did pinch me that I didn’t get to work on it due to my potential but as a substitute. Had the reason been former, I would have had no issues.
I don’t doubt my capabilities. I know I can do it well. It may be just a case that my Boss has preference, knowing well that she is judgmental.
The BIG dilemma I’m currently undergoing is what should I do in life? In my view, no job on this earth can make you fully happy. It is only service (to the Society) that brings smiles. But, to live you need money and that comes only through job. The mid way could be to take up a job which is meant to serve. I am still looking at the options. Lets see where life takes me…
I like consulting work and aspire to become a freelancer but I know that would take time. I am not tensed neither am I confused. I am just trying to find a path to reach my goal and I know I will find it soon :)
P.S: While I was writing this post and wrote the word “Boss”, my boss actually called me!! Bosses never fall short of scaring the employees!!
Keep Smiling :)

Adventures!!
Days are again getting busier..
Life is going on in full swings..i really don’t understand whether I bump into adventures or the thrills get attracted to me. The other day I was coming from East Delhi and my friend dropped me at the Metro station , I had my metro card in hand , which I had to get refilled as there was no balance and a laptop bag. I eneterd the station , opened the bag to take out the wallet and realized I had left in my friend’s car!! You may call it idiotic, but I called my friend just to confirm that there is my wallet there and said “Don’t Worry!! I will manage” and I had just no clue what to do!!
Ok.Situation is I am penniless, need to get back home..what to do to get back home?? Get at least 15 Rs. cash..i searched and searched and searched in the hope of getting some chuttas but alas! Seemed I’ve suddenly become rich and so carry no chillad..Duh! Next thought..how to get cash ? What all I have which are worth some money..A watch, earrings, laptop..(I seriously got these wierd thoughts)..but all these are valuables , kuch kam value ka and then ! My sixth sense worked!!
Boss, mere paas metro card hai which is worth 50 Rs. !! Hurray!! So I forfeited the card, got 50 bugs and merrily came back home : D
This is one story, another interesting adventure..the next day again I was traveling my metro (this time I had ample money to travel the whole day in Metro )but that’s not the case..i took the train at 10 pm and unluckily ( why me ??) the train got stuck up at a station for 10-15 mins.. I knew I would reach my station only by 11 pm and would get no conveyance to get back home.. now, what to do ? So I called up my friend (friendship rocks!!) and told him to come and pick me ( I thought I would have to plead or coerce him to come at 11pm in this cold weather but he , very politely (for the first time in my life) said yes) Ok , 11.15 pm we met and suddenly realized that we both were damn hungry!! And when you are hungry, all sensible people go to eat..so we went to a nearby dhaba kinda place , had dinner at almost 12 am!! It was an impromptu outing which was seemingly welcomed :D
When such things happen, the reaction is “WHY???”.. But when you recall them , the reaction is “WOW!!!”
P.S: The laptop bag mentioned above was of my boss, it had Apple’s Mac. Lucky laptop, it got saved from being sold all due to my metro card.
Keep Smiling :)

Many Lives , One Master
Have so much in mind. Life seems to be so funny yet so adventurous Every now and then it throws surprises, makes you realize that you are so ignorant and just a miniscule part of this big Universe yet the other moment you are made to feel that you ARE SOMEONE in the applauds and recognition from the external environment. To think of it, I’m wonderstruck.
I’ve been observing myself a lot lately – my reactions to different situations, my different reactions to the same situation.
Everyone knows about my association with the Art of Living. When people ask me questions like “Have you met Guruji?” Aapne unka naam liya hua hai ?” , I just have no words to answer them.
A guru is a “Tatva” – an element. He is just not a physical entity. You can talk to him anywhere and at anytime. He is available 24*7 .He is actually your best bodyguard.
I don’t know what a “naam lena” precisely means but if it is to do with some mantra that you get from your Guru, then no, I haven’t taken any naam. The only thing I may fit into the”naam” tag is the immense, beautiful and invaluable knowledge he has provided (and it is still on!! :))
To have a master in your ife is the best blessing that you can ever get. No worldly pleasure can match the happiness that a Guru can give you. :)
Jai Guru Dev!!
Keep Smiling :)

NLP Rocks!!
Had my NLP training session today after almost a month.(http://www.nlpinfo.com/)
I have simply fallen in love with NLP!! Can’t elaborate on what exactly it is, but concisely it’s a training on mastering the art of understanding the psyche – understanding the others’ thought process and tweaking your language skills to get the buy –in. I’ve been practicing NLP lately in my daily life and pledge to excel in it in this lifetime :)
I will try and use more of “NLP Language” in by posts (Well, I won’t categorically state it, the guessing work is yours)
Today was a challenging day, had this NLP training for almost 8 hours at a stretch– 9.30 – 5.30 and in the midst of it, had to follow up on other projects with you-know-who people. I won’t hide the fact that today I tended to be clear-cut and down to facts. I had lack of time and I was simply in no mood to go the mushy mushy way. “Let’s talk business” was the agenda.
Another simple funda in life I have come up with – when you are running out of time and deadlines are critical, there’s no harm in calling a spade - a spade. Today my focus was to complete the work assigned because I knew it’s a weekend ahead and if I it didn’t get done, the buck would fall on me and eventually I would end up doing it. And I’m surprised, my approach worked well!! Long Live NLP!!
I think the crux is that if you are spiritual, things like NLP come very easy to you.
I know that some of my office colleagues read my blog and there might be more following the suit, so the advice I’ve been given is to be a little cautious in what I say and how I present it. But, it’s MY Blog and I have full authority over it. And waise bhi, I’m known in my office as being outspoken. I welcome one and all to read and enjoy but no debates pls. I love non-violence (flavored with a lil bit of tiff here and there) :)
Want to write on few more things , will bother you tomorrow
Keep smiling :)

Games life plays...
Days are getting busier.
It's always happened with me, the moment I ask something from life, Life throws it to me but the way of giving is, “Oh! So this is what you want. Sure why not! Try this!”
Let me take a recent instance, I was facing an issue in my office – for some reason/s, I was perplexed on my growth prospects in my current job. I wanted to go one step higher as it’s been 2 years in this profession. I just shared (Note the word pls) this thought with my boss but did not ask (compare it with the former) for any kind of great work.
I just wanted to blurt out whatever I was feeling. I’ve realized one thing in life – the moment you are detached from a thing and then take decisions, they are bound to be the best. Earlier I use to think – no , I can’t leave my Job , money , experience etc etc. but now I am like – Ok, working is important , earning is important but I won’t slog.I would rather earn less and be happy than earn a hefty amount and be unhappy and cribbing all the while.
Ok, coming back to the plot, I just wanted to do good work in the sense I wanted to lead Projects or manage people to enhance my people skills. And lo and behold! I was assigned 3 projects (they will become 4 soon) which are making me go crazy these days!
I am a person who loves multi tasking and feels bored doing one job or with one person for long (I at times wonder how am I gonna get along after marriage: D). So it isn’t the number of projects , it’s the number of people I need to deal with and manage!!
And I am not sure if it happens everywhere, in my office you need to mind each and every word you say. My team members, being of my age and position, seem to get REALLY offended if you treat them as your subordinates or else you try to act like their boss. In simple language, their ego is hurt: D
So the whole “My fair Lady” kinda ride is interesting as well as tiring ..minding each and every word you put across…being politically correct…tolerating all sort of nonsense and dumbness..being polite when you want to yell..being understanding when you just want to be left alone…following up on things when you are dead tired and just want to say “ Vijay Bhaiya! Ik chai lana, ginger wali”
P.S : Vijay is the new servant in our office who is very bossy and tends to put less of sugar as sugar prices are soaring ( so bloody loyal)
Keep Smiling :)

62 WAYS TO MAKE 2010 YOUR BEST YEAR YET - by Robin Sharma
I knwo they are too many , read slowly and in bits and pieces..they are very beautiful and not very difficult to follow :)
1. Remember that leadership isn't about your position. It's about your influence.
2. Get fit like a pro athlete.
3. Lift people up versus tearing people down.
4. Protect your good name. An impeccable reputation takes a lifetime to build. And 60 seconds to lose.
5. Surround yourself with positive, ethical people who are committed to excellence.
6. Remember that even a 1% daily innovation rate amounts to at least a 100% rate of innovation in 100 days.
7. Believe in your dreams (even when others laugh at them).
8. Measure your success, not by your net worth but by your self worth (and how happy you feel).
9. Take an intelligent risk every 24 hours. No try-No Win.
10. Read "Buffett: The Making of an American Capitalist".
11. Watch "Man on Wire".
12. Regardless of your title at work, be a team builder.
13. Remember that business is all about relationships and human connections.
14. Say "please" more.
15. Say "thank you" more.
16. Know your Big 5: the five things that need to happen by the end of this year for you to feel its been your best year yet.
17. Read your Big 5 every morning while the rest of the world is asleep.
18. Read "As You Think". At least twice this year.
19. Be willing to fail. It's the price of greatness.
20. Focus less on making money and more on creating value.
21. Spend less, save more.
22. Leave everything you touch better than you found it.
23. Be the most positive person in every room you're in.
24. Stay true to your deepest values and best ideals.
25. Write a handwritten thank you note to a customer/friend/loved one every day.
26. When you travel, send love letters to your kids on hotel stationary. In time, they'll have a rich collection to remember your travels by.
27. Read "Atlas Shrugged".
28. Be a problem solver versus a trouble maker.
29. Rather than doing many things at mediocrity do just a few things-but at mastery.
30. Honor your parents.
31. Commit to doing great work-whether anyone notices it or not. It's one of life's best sources of happiness.
32. Give more than you receive (another of the truths of happiness).
33. Have your 1/3/5/10/25 years goals recorded on paper and review them weekly.
34. Be patient. Slow and steady wins the race. The only reason businesses that went from zero to a billion in a year or two get featured in magazines is because 99% of businesses require a lot more time to win.
34. Underpromise and then overdeliver.
35. See part of your job as "a developer of people" (whether you work in the boardroom or the mailroom).
36. Wear your heart on your sleeve. When people see you're real, they'll fall in love with you.
37. Be authentic versus plastic.
38. Read "The Alchemist".
39. Remember that life wants you to win. So get out of your own way.
40. Consider that behind every fear lives your next level of growth (and power).
41. Eat less food.
42. Drink more water.
43. Rest when you need to.
44. Read "SUCCESS" magazine.
45. Write your eulogy and them live your life backwards.
46. Demand the best from yourself.
47. Remember that the more you go to your limits, the more your limits will expand.
48. See everything that happens to you as an opportunity to grow (and therefore, as a precious gift).
49. Be obsessed with learning and self-development.
50. Become comfortable alone (you are the only person you get to be with your whole life).
51. Smile. It's a stunningly effective way to win in business and life.
52. Reflect on the shortness of life.
53. Be bold when it comes to your dreams but gentle with those you love.
54. Remember that success is dangerous because it can kill drive/innovation/passion and going the extra mile. Be successful yet stay hungry.
55. Read "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin".
56. Be of deep value to this world.
57. Own beautiful things but don't let them own you.
58. Use excellent words.
59. Laugh more.
60. Don't complain, gossip or be negative.
61. Plan as if you'll live forever but live as if you'll die tomorrow.
62. Feel free to pass these lessons on to those you want to help.
Keep Smiling :)

2010 In , 2009 Out
Today is 1st Jan 2010 – my first write up for this year.
Well, I got really interesting feedback from one of my friends – he says that he reads all the posts on my blog (I had a smile till this point..) bcoz he finds them really PATHETIC (Now I know you are smiling) for two reasons, it has too much of AOL stuff and secondly b’coz nowadays I tend to write less of my originals. I agree on both, can’t really do much on the former but for the latter – this post is dedicated (feel blessed: D) to this moron.
P.S – Did I mention Ankit Mittal?
Well, for me the first day of any year is the time for introspection, realization & planning. Going back in time, 2009 seems to be one of the turning years for me. So much happened and I really wonder, did it take just these few months for such a paradigm change? The most interesting part is how certain earlier important things have become mundane; things which use to irritate or bother me have become almost peripheral; my sanguinity has taken an altogether new dimension.
I use to have a certain way of thinking which I wasn’t vocal about b’coz I knew the others don’t think on those lines .I use to feel abnormal and out of the place at times but this year my thinking was validated. I realized that I am also NORMAL (rather among the intelligent ones) :)
2009 bought both smiles and sorrows – but the best part was that it taught how to smile first so the sorrows didn’t really get a fair chance. My back problem almost made be non functional for two months – My mind was fit and wanted to do hell lot of things but my body really provide the needed support – my MBA prep suffered and took a back seat . But all that helped was – my will power and the faith that I’m taken care of :)
The experiences, the knowledge, the zeal, the direction that 2009 gave will be cherished for years to come. 2009, for me, has been a year of awakening – a year of exploration.
Hope 2010 acts as +1 to 2009’s experiences. Plan your 2010. I don’t say pre decide 2010 but try and give it a direction – what would you want to achieve this year , how would you like to contribute to the society , what are your development gaps and how would you like to work on them
Remember - Failing to plan is planning to fail
If life deals you lemons, make lemonade. Simply enjoy life and real enjoyment lies in making others happy
P.S : Ankit , this time did i mention "AOL"??
Keep Smiling :)
