When she beautifully handled a misogynist Interviewer!

Ok, So I don't really want to talk about her. I've realized talking more about her leads to people getting curios about her past and is increasing something in our country which shouldn't be. Sunny Leone - I am sure all Indians know her name by now. Every kid dances to Baby Doll, teenage girls want to have a figure like her and she is all over the news.

But watching this Interview of Sunny has made me respect her a bit, and compelled me to write this blogpost. When I first saw this Interview, it did not ring a bell. Many Bollywood stars started pouring in their support on such a brave face she'd put up in front of the idiot Bhupendra Chaubey. It still did not strike me. Support coming in from people like Alia Bhatt ,who is anyway intellectually low, wasn't of much significance to me. But when I read this letter written to Sunny by Amol Palekar's wife, I felt like watching this interview again to understand the circumstances.

Well, it does takes guts to stand such ruthless questions and maintain your composure and answer in a dignified manner. It may seem easy for us to watch and judge but for someone in that hot seat who is being brutally grilled, it's a different story. Bhupendra certainly did this for TRP. The more controversial it is, the more audience it attracts. But the kind of questions he asked were absurd and disrespectful. It was supposed to be a promotional interview for her film but he made it revolve all around her past, coming back to it again and again , and in a subtle way pressurized her to give in and turn emotional. Would have worked more in his favour. Not just Sunny, the way the Interview was conducted, it is insulting to any woman. I respect Sunny for gracefully going through the ordeal.

But, all said and done, I still feel she has polluted our culture. But it isn't her who is completely to be blamed. Why doesn't someone points fingers at Big Boss and colour channel who got her to India? Why doesn't someone pinpoint fingers at Mahesh Bhatt who gave her entry into Bollywood. Who promoted her as a "p******r"? Media did. If she is the most searched person on Google in 2015, it's because of the way Media projected her that led to the curiosity. Media is running after " masala" these days with no sign of moral responsibility attached. I personally feel people , from a similar background like hers, should not be brought to mainstream Cinema.

I say this as an audience, who watches trailers and goes to theatre to watch the movies. Exposure to Bollywood is not restricted by age and we need to protect the young minds and promote stuff that will inspire them. I pity at the path our young generation is heading to. Hope we don't have another Sunny Leone in Bollywood.
