We owned the future and got the Present!

I had my personal experiences to share but I thought let me be unbiased and write a post on the event that happened :)

25th Feb 2012
This date will be engrossed in the history of North Campus when it witnessed the incredible! Thousands of youth gathered at Own the Future and the Present (OTFATP). For the unfortunate ones who STILL don't know what's OTFATP, it was organized by WAYE – youth wing of the Art of Living foundation. An interactive session wherein the youth could ask (or shoot!) questions to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ( Founder, Art of Living). Held at Hindu College grounds on 25th Feb, the questions could relate to Career, relationships, politics, spirituality and anything on this world you would want to ask! :) Swapnil had made a good pre-event video. You can find it here

The event was a HUGE success with over 11,000 youth participating! Yeah! And an interesting aspect to note is that the same day there were fests in Hansraj & Ramjas College. If you are a college student or have been one where fests are REALLY good, missing the fest for anything IS a big thing!Sensible people did that ;)

Before the event commenced, one could see hundreds of volunteers working. Looking cool in OTFATP T-Shirts, some totally chilled out , some running from one corner to the other, some on phone and what not but all had this BIG smile on their face. It was but obvious as they were the host to welcome the master :). Various teams were made to handle matters - Registration Desk, Info desks, Security Management, Guest welcome, crowd management and a lot more. With me being a Vishnu shakti dominated person, I feel good when things happen systematically but over few years of experience doing sewa, I've realised it's best to keep room for confusion and chaos ;)

After a month long hard work, to see THIS day coming into reality was a gratifying and fulfilling experience. The stage was shining bright in red. Before the advent of the event, with the stage ready and the audience chairs idle, we visualized that the place would be full. And that is what exactly happened. That's the power of meditators :)

Though the time was 3 pm, crowd started coming at 1.30 pm to grab their seats! Slowly as the clock needle was getting closer to 3 pm, the rush just kept increasing. As if the vegetable prices were soaring up! It was a sight to watch ;)

To start the event , we had 2 dynamic Art of Living Singers - Siddarth Mohan and Ankit Batra who travel across the globe to conduct concerts. It was indeed a pleasure to see them both together on the same platform. The event started with singing of " Ganesh Om". The strings of the guitar added a rocking touch to this divine song. Lord Ganesha is called "Vignaharta" - one who removes obstacles. By calling him, we wanted to make the event full proof ;)
The music, the decoration, the crowd all was nice..but many were eagerly waiting for one thing..Yes! when will HE come for whom they had come :)

Waving at the crowd...
, And after few minutes of hide and seek he entered in his usual royal style..I should call it the Sri Sri style ;)
Guruji Starting with the Talk by saying...
”Everything should be done in Style"

Though there many good mundas present at the event, wearing glares HE was looking the most handsome.Couldn't take my eyes off him!
What charm and persona he carries!

" I AM ALIVE"
There was  dance performance by YES!+ troupe to welcome Sri Sri. A contemporary style presented on “ I am Alive”. It was resplendent! Dressed in red and white, all dancers looked fabulous!  It seemed a deadly combo of love and peace :)

Post the group dance, there was a special performance by Tarique Khan, ace choreographer (and a cool YES!+ teacher), depicting the 5 knowledge points taught in YES!+

Milieu was ecstatic and full of glee. Sri Sri's answers to the questions put across were hilarious yet very practical. The youth present there connected to him SO very easily and they just couldn’t stop smiling.  All their myth about  a baba got broken and they got a glimpse that spirituality is just so COOL!  :)

Though I don't recollect all the questions, some were :

Q- I am always bothered about 'what-about-me'.
Sri Sri: Turn 'me' to 'us' and ask: 'what-about-us'

Q- What is the scientific meaning of GOD?
Sri Sri: Generator-Operator-Destroyer. It is the field.  Love is god in the eye of an artist.

Q - 2012 world is going to end. your take on it ?
Sri Sri - Only in the American Movies ;)  (Laughter)

Q - Ia it necessary to have a guru in Life ?
Sri Sri - A guru is someone who answers your questions. If I answer this question, I will automatically become one! ( laughter)

Q : How do you know what is good and bad for us ?
Sri Sri - Bad is what gives long term pain and short term gain. Good is what may be painful initially but gives long term pleasure.

There were many more but I was mesmerized in his presence that didn't bother to write them down ;)You can watch the video on youtube.  Click Here

Pranayam & Meditation Session..spellbound!
At the end , Sri Sri carried out a guided meditation. For the thousands who experienced meditation for the first time, it was a WOW experience!

When they opened eyes and were told that the whole thing went on for  half and hour, none could believe!

Saturday was made soulful, serene and sweet by Sri Sri :) For those who missed it , they can comfort themselves by watching it on youtube. Though I know the experience would be missing :)

Keep Smiling :)

P.S : These are the rockstars of North Campus who worked day and night to make this event a success story! I may not say it quite often but I love them all :) each one is a gem:)
