In the Lap of Nature ......

....And the 3 holidays were invigorating!! I had weekend off owing to Gandhi Jayanti and Commonwealth combined with the weekly Monday off. So the 3 days sabbatical was spent in the lap of the River Ganga - Haridwar and Rishikesh! Yoho! The impromptu nature of the journey made it all the more interesting. I intended to go to some hilly place and dehradun was shortlisted but instead reached Haridwar. It's been 3 years since I visited the place. For me , holy sites have an irrefutable charm - Vrindavan , Vaishno Devi & Haridwar in particular. Its such a thanksgiving time! For all thats been done for, all the guidance, all the comforts, the strengths.... The oneness and the power is so very palpable at such places.

The weather was pleasant. I sat at the banks in the evening at Haridwar after the daily Aarti - for a while the melodious sound of the gushing water, the breeze, the muted lightning far away made all the thoughts cease - the mind was still and just in tune with the flow of water. Such mesmerizing moments , meditative milieu :) While sitting there, I was remembering how Guruji gives such beautiful knowledge points in the form of a metaphor or a simile. The few related to water I remembered were :

" It ok to be angry but your Anger should be like a line drawn on water"
" Whenever you are Angry, just sit near a river or water and watch the flow of water. Within a short time, your anger will disappear"

  • Ganga is a symbol of knowledge and Yamuna symbolizes love. Prayag (where Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati meet) is the unity of love and wisdom. When love and wisdom meets, celebration happens
Q: Where is Bhagwan(God)?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
It consists of four syllables - bh, ga, wa, na. bh comes from bhoomi(earth). One who has patience like Earth, fluidity like water, sharpness and focus like fire, subtlety like air and is all-pervading like space.

Keep Smiling :)
